Privacy
MiniPDF and its website. Last updated 21 October 2026.
MiniPDF doesn’t collect anything about you or your files. Here is what that means in practice.
The app
- It collects no data. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no tracking and no account.
- It never uploads anything. Compression happens on your computer, so it works offline. Apart from the licence check below, the only request it makes is an optional check for updates, which sends the app’s version and nothing about you or your files.
- Your files never leave your computer. MiniPDF reads a PDF, writes a smaller copy next to it and stops. The original is never changed.
- If you buy a licence, MiniPDF checks your key with ward.so when you enter it and about once a day after that. It sends the key, a random ID MiniPDF made up for this computer, the app’s name and version, and nothing about you or your files. Without a connection it keeps working for 30 days after its last check.
This website
The site uses no cookies and loads nothing from other companies.
It counts visits itself, to see which pages people read and how many download MiniPDF: the page, the site that sent you (only its name), your country (from Cloudflare) and whether you’re on a phone, tablet or computer. To count each visitor once a day it makes a scrambled code from your IP address and browser with a key that changes every day and is then deleted, so visits on different days can’t be linked and your IP address is never stored. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, not even that code is made. These counts are deleted after about a year and never shared.
If you join the waitlist, we email you a link to confirm your address, so nobody can sign you up without you knowing. We store your email address, the country your request came from (a rough location that Cloudflare provides, not your IP address) and the dates you joined and confirmed. We use your IP address only to stop one person signing up over and over, and it isn’t saved with your email.
We use Resend (Resend, Inc.) to send our emails: the waitlist confirmation, the one when MiniPDF is out, and your licence if you buy. Resend handles your address and those emails only to deliver them. Its own policy is at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.
If you never confirm, we delete your address after a few days. If you do, we delete it once the launch email has gone out. We never sell it or share it. To be removed sooner, or to see what we hold, email hey@ward.so.
Buying a licence
Purchases on ward.so are handled by Polar, the merchant of record, which processes the payment and sales tax and sees your payment details; we never do. We receive your name, email address and order number. We use them to send your licence key, to resend it if you lose it, and for support. For each computer your key is used on we keep the random ID it sent, whether it’s a Mac or Linux, the app version and when it last checked in, so we can tell when a key is being shared. We keep them for as long as you have the licence, so we can resend it. Polar’s own policy is at polar.sh/legal/privacy-policy. If you buy on the Mac App Store, Apple handles the purchase and we don’t learn who you are.
After you pay, Polar sends you back to a page on this site that shows your licence key. The page asks Polar whether that checkout was paid and shows the key we issued for it, and nothing else.
The Unlock button in your licence email opens a page on this site with your key after a #. Your browser keeps that part to itself: it isn’t sent to us, and it isn’t in any log.
Hosting
The site, and the database that holds the waitlist and licences, are hosted on Cloudflare. Like any host, Cloudflare handles requests, including IP addresses, to deliver pages and keep the site safe. Its own policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top. Questions go to hey@ward.so.
